Ingredients:

  • 12 oz (340 g) pasta (penne, rigatoni, or spaghetti work well)
  • 1 lb (450 g) Italian sausage (mild or spicy, based on preference), casing removed
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 small onion, finely chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 can (14.5 oz) crushed tomatoes
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream
  • 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 tsp dried oregano
  • 1 tsp dried basil
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)
  • Extra Parmesan for serving

Instructions:

  1. Cook the Pasta
    • Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Cook the pasta according to the package instructions until al dente. Drain the pasta, reserving about 1/2 cup of pasta water. Set aside.
  2. Cook the Sausage
    • While the pasta is cooking, heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat.
