  • 4 slices of cheddar or American cheese
  • Sliced pickles
  • Lettuce leaves
  • Sliced tomatoes
  • Sliced red onion (optional)
  • Special Sauce (optional):
  • ½ cup mayonnaise
  • 1 tablespoon ketchup
  • 1 teaspoon mustard
  • 1 teaspoon pickle relish
  • Dash of smoked paprika

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Bacon:
  • Cook bacon in a skillet over medium heat until crispy. Drain on a paper towel-lined plate.
  1. Make the Special Sauce (if using):
  • Mix mayonnaise, ketchup, mustard, relish, and smoked paprika in a small bowl. Set aside.
  1. Shape the Beef:
  • Divide the ground beef into 4 equal portions (about 4 oz each). Roll into loose balls, but don’t pack them tightly.
  1. Cook the Smash Patties:
  • Heat a large cast-iron skillet or griddle over medium-high heat until very hot.
  • Place a beef ball on the skillet and smash it flat using a sturdy spatula or burger press. Use parchment paper between the spatula and beef if sticking occurs.
  • Season with salt and pepper. Cook for 2–3 minutes until the edges are crispy.
  • Flip the patty, place a slice of cheese on top, and cook for another 1–2 minutes until melted.
  1. Toast the Buns:
  • Spread a little butter on the buns and toast them in the same skillet until golden.
  1. Assemble the Burgers:
  • Spread special sauce (or condiments of your choice) on the bottom bun.
  • Layer with lettuce, tomato, and pickles.
  • Place the smash patty with melted cheese on top, followed by 2 slices of crispy bacon.
  • Add optional onions and cover with the top bun.
  1. Serve:
  • Serve immediately with fries, onion rings, or a side salad.

This burger is crispy, juicy, and bursting with flavor—perfect for indulgent cravings.
