- 1 lb (450g) ground beef or thinly sliced steak
- 1 tbsp olive oil
- 1/2 tsp garlic powder
- 1/2 tsp onion powder
- Salt and black pepper, to taste
For the garlic Parmesan sauce:
- 2 tbsp unsalted butter
- 3 garlic cloves, minced
- 2 tbsp all-purpose flour
- 2 cups whole milk (or half-and-half for a richer sauce)
- 1 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 1/4 tsp Italian seasoning
- Pinch of red pepper flakes (optional)
- Salt and black pepper, to taste
Optional garnish:
- Fresh parsley, chopped
- Extra Parmesan cheese
Instructions
- Cook the pasta:
- Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Cook the rotini pasta according to package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside.
- Cook the beef:
- Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add the ground beef or steak strips. Season with garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper.
- Cook until the beef is browned and fully cooked (about 5–7 minutes). Remove from the skillet and set aside.
- Make the garlic Parmesan sauce:
- In the same skillet, melt the butter over medium heat. Add the minced garlic and sauté for 1–2 minutes until fragrant.
- Sprinkle in the flour and whisk to create a roux. Cook for 1 minute.
- Gradually pour in the milk, whisking constantly to prevent lumps. Bring the mixture to a gentle simmer and cook for 3–4 minutes until thickened.
- Stir in the Parmesan cheese, Italian seasoning, and red pepper flakes (if using). Season with salt and pepper to taste.
- Combine:
- Add the cooked rotini and beef to the skillet with the sauce. Toss until everything is evenly coated. Cook for an additional 2–3 minutes to warm through.
- Serve:
- Transfer to serving plates and garnish with fresh parsley and extra Parmesan cheese if desired.
Serving Suggestions
- Serve with garlic bread or a side salad for a complete meal.
