Crab Rangoon Dip is a warm, creamy appetizer inspired by the popular Chinese-American takeout dish. It’s packed with the flavors of crab, cream cheese, and a touch of sweetness, served with crispy wonton chips or crackers for dipping. Perfect for parties and game days!

Ingredients

For the Dip:

  • 8 oz (1 block) cream cheese, softened
  • ½ cup sour cream
  • ½ cup mayonnaise
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1 cup lump crab meat (fresh, canned, or imitation)
  • 2 green onions, finely chopped (reserve some for garnish)
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp Worcestershire sauce
  • ½ tsp soy sauce
  • 1 tbsp powdered sugar
  • ½ tsp salt
  • ½ tsp black pepper

For the Topping:

  • ½ cup shredded mozzarella or Parmesan cheese
  • Optional: Sweet chili sauce for drizzling

For Dipping:

  • Wonton chips, tortilla chips, crackers, or sliced vegetables

Instructions

  1. Preheat the Oven:
    • Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Mix the Dip Ingredients:
    • In a large mixing bowl, combine cream cheese, sour cream, and mayonnaise until smooth.
    • Stir in mozzarella cheese, crab meat, green onions, garlic powder, Worcestershire sauce, soy sauce, powdered sugar, salt, and pepper. Mix well to combine.
  3. Assemble the Dip:
    • Transfer the mixture to an oven-safe dish or skillet and spread evenly. Sprinkle the additional mozzarella or Parmesan cheese over the top.
  4. Bake:
    • Bake for 20-25 minutes, or until the dip is hot and bubbly with a golden brown top.
  5. Optional Topping:
    • For a sweet and tangy touch, drizzle sweet chili sauce over the baked dip.
  6. Serve:
    • Garnish with reserved green onions. Serve immediately with wonton chips, tortilla chips, crackers, or veggies for dipping.

How to Make Wonton Chips

  1. Cut wonton wrappers into triangles.
  2. Heat vegetable oil in a skillet over medium heat.
  3. Fry the wonton triangles in batches until golden brown and crispy (about 1 minute per side).
  4. Drain on paper towels and lightly salt.

Tips:

  • Crab Options: Use fresh crab for the best flavor, but canned or imitation crab works well for convenience.
  • Make Ahead: Assemble the dip a day in advance, cover, and refrigerate. Bake just before serving.
  • Spicy Version: Add a pinch of cayenne pepper or finely chopped jalapeños for heat.

This creamy and indulgent dip will be the star of your appetizer table. Enjoy!
