Caprese Grilled Cheese Sandwich Recipe
A deliciously melty take on the classic Caprese salad, this grilled cheese sandwich combines mozzarella, juicy tomatoes, fresh basil, and a hint of balsamic glaze.
Ingredients
- 4 slices of sourdough or artisan bread
- 4 oz fresh mozzarella, sliced
- 1 large tomato, sliced
- 6-8 fresh basil leaves
- 2 tbsp balsamic glaze (store-bought or homemade)
- 2 tbsp butter, softened
- Pinch of salt and black pepper
Instructions
1. Prepare the Bread:
- Spread butter on one side of each slice of bread. The buttered side will face outward during cooking.
2. Assemble the Sandwiches:
- Lay two slices of bread butter-side down.
- Layer with fresh mozzarella slices, tomato slices, and basil leaves.
- Drizzle with balsamic glaze and sprinkle a pinch of salt and black pepper.
- Top with the remaining slices of bread, butter-side up.
