Garlic Parmesan Pork Chops Recipe
Serves: 4
Prep Time: 10 minutes
Cook Time: 20 minutes
Ingredients
- 4 bone-in or boneless pork chops (about 1-inch thick)
- Salt and black pepper, to taste
- 2 tbsp olive oil
- 3 tbsp butter
- 4 garlic cloves, minced
- 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 1/4 cup breadcrumbs (preferably panko for extra crunch)
- 1 tsp dried oregano
- 1/2 tsp dried thyme
- 1/4 tsp red pepper flakes (optional)
- Fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)
Instructions
- Prepare the pork chops:
- Pat the pork chops dry with a paper towel to remove excess moisture.
- Season both sides of the pork chops generously with salt and black pepper.
- Cook the pork chops:
- Heat 1 tbsp of olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat.
- Add the pork chops and cook for 4-5 minutes per side, until golden brown and cooked through (internal temperature should reach 145°F or 63°C).
- Remove the pork chops from the skillet and set aside on a plate.
- Make the garlic Parmesan sauce:
- In the same skillet, melt the butter and the remaining 1 tbsp of olive oil over medium heat.
- Add the minced garlic and sauté for 1-2 minutes, until fragrant but not browned.
- Stir in the Parmesan cheese, breadcrumbs, oregano, thyme, and red pepper flakes (if using).
- Cook for 2-3 minutes, until the mixture is golden and bubbly.
- Combine:
- Return the cooked pork chops to the skillet, spooning the garlic Parmesan mixture over the top of each chop.
- Cook for another 2-3 minutes, allowing the pork chops to absorb the flavor and the sauce to thicken slightly.
- Serve:
- Garnish with fresh chopped parsley. Serve the pork chops hot, with your favorite sides like mashed potatoes, roasted vegetables, or a salad.
Tips for Customization:
- Add a creamy twist: Stir in a little heavy cream or sour cream into the garlic Parmesan sauce for a richer, creamier consistency.
- Vegetable add-ins: Add sautéed spinach, mushrooms, or asparagus to the sauce for more flavor and texture.
- Make it low-carb: Skip the breadcrumbs and use crushed almonds or coconut flour for a keto-friendly option.
